During the Open Days at the Peaceful Land of Joy Meditation Centre in Yuroke visitors can join garden tours to learn tips on organic, water-wise and sustainable gardening.
Many people bring friends and family to relax in the beauty and serenity of a 'lovingly tended, beautiful and spectacular flower garden' as seen on ABC TV's Gardening Australia.
The weekend provides an opportunity for families and people of every age to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the gardens and lawns surrounding the traditional Tibetan temple.
An enthusiastic group of volunteer gardeners contributes many hours each week to fulfil the founder's vision of the gardens as a place for everyone to enjoy. The group has organised regular working bees, landscaped and beautified areas.
There are also free guided meditations each day and tours of the temple to learn about the historic design and style and the background and meaning of the ornaments and Tibetan paintings known as thangkhas inside the temple.
Groups are welcome to take advantage of a special package for eight or more people, offering entry, Devonshire tea, temple and garden tours for $10 per person. To inquire about tours please ring Jean or Wendy on 9333 1770.
Entry for everyone else is $5 or free for those 12 and under. Temple tours are $5 each.
All proceeds contribute to the maintenance of the temple and the gardens.
