INNER PEACE

• A Panel Discussion at 1 pm Sunday with Buddhist leaders on the festival theme – Finding Peace in a Changing World. Here you’ll get different perspectives and ideas on modern challenges to peace in the world today.
• Free meditations throughout the weekend.
• Talks each day by leading Buddhist teachers from throughout Australia generally with some guided meditation.
• Free children’s meditation session each day, a relaxed gentle session with a story and meditation.

CEREMONY FOR WORLD PEACE

The Ceremony for World Peace at 12 noon on Saturday is a main event of the festival. Keynote speakers from the community share their thoughts on the festival theme and reflect on current issues in our world. We share prayers for world peace and harmony. This is a much celebrated and enjoyed community event. We are delighted to be joined by Federal, State and local government leaders and representatives of community groups and religious traditions including Buddhist centres, Christians, Muslims and Hindus.

EXTRAORDINARY HAVEN

The Peaceful Land of Joy Meditation Centre is one of Melbourne’s most peaceful settings. Our garden is a 10 acre haven filled with flowers and trees including brilliant varieties of roses, salvias and marigolds, golden robinias, Californian redwoods, olive trees, birds and wildlife. The magnificently vibrant Tibetan temple is filled with Tibetan paintings and statues and is a beautiful place for rest and contemplation.

DISPLAYS

Displays with beautiful images of old Tibet and re-established Tibetan communities, which flourished in India after China invaded Tibet in 1959. DVDs and films are shown during the weekend of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s teachings and exploring the story of Tibet.

TEMPLE AND GARDEN TOURS

Regular tours of the temple explaining its fascinating history and significance. Garden tours focus on organic methods and how to cultivate roses, salvias and many other beautiful plants in our challenging climate.

CAFÉ, SHOP & MARKET

New food this year - with an Indian theme, plenty of variety, and fresh coffee, chai and home-made cakes. The Enjoyment Shop and market with wares made locally and around the world - soaps, books, incense, cards, meditation cushions and traditional Tibetan shawls, clothing and jewellery.
